City boss Pep Guardiola wants a smaller squad and has complained about the size of the current contingent. According to , City are ready to offload some players, and the names include those of Manuel Akanji and Gundogan. The German midfielder, who was previously linked with Galatasaray, is now considering a return to the Bundesliga, where he once shone for Borussia Dortmund.
